How to password protect your WhatsApp messages

Have you ever been in a situation where your office colleagues, friends or spouse borrows your phone and then starts reading your personal WhatsApp messages? Wouldn’t it be great if there was a way to restrict access to apps on your phone so that people who borrow your phone are not able to open them without entering password? This is where the App Lock app comes into the picture.

  1. App Lock is a free Android app that allows you to restrict access to specific applications on your mobile phone by enabling a password on them. Without entering the correct password nobody will be allowed to launch the restricted application. Once you have downloaded App Lock, you need to set a password of your choice and a recovery email address in case you forget the password.

  1. Next you need to select to the functionality (answering phone calls, changing system setting, enabling Wi-Fi and others) or application that you want to password protect on your phone. In this example, I am going to restrict access to the WhatsApp Messenger app.
  1. The next time somebody tries to launch the WhatsApp Messenger app on your phone, and then they will be asked to enter the access password, without which they will not be allowed to start the application.
